Aligned Data Centers Plans New Data Center Campus in Erie County

Innovative Company Provides Massive Scale, High Performance, and Reliability to Customers

Aligned Data Centers, a leading technology infrastructure company offering innovative, sustainable and adaptive Scale Data Centers and Build-to-Scale solutions for global hyperscale and enterprise customers, plans to build a new data center campus in Erie County. The Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) approved the project for tax credit assistance during its Ohio Tax Credit Authority meeting today. Aligned intends to invest at least $202 million and create at least 18 new, well-paying jobs in the first phase of development at this location.

Aligned Data Centers is seeking to establish a new location to serve the company’s growing customer portfolio, which include major hyperscale companies as well as large enterprise customers from a wide variety of industries, from cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI), to financials services, healthcare,  gaming, and many more.

The ESG-conscious company plans to build a sustainable facility on the former KBI bearing plant site in Perkins Township. The energy-efficient infrastructure will provide customers with the ability to seamlessly and sustainably deploy large-scale applications.

“Aligned is excited to join the Northeast Ohio community and support the ongoing growth of our customers, as well as the business landscape in this new market,” says Andrew Schaap, CEO of Aligned Data Centers. “The industry has had a significant and positive impact on the U.S. economy over the last few years, including both direct and indirect impacts on job creation, labor income, tax revenue generation, and more. We look forward to bringing new economic, environmental, and social opportunities to Erie County.”

Local, regional, and state economic development partners including ODOD, JobsOhio and Team NEO are working collaboratively with Aligned Data Centers leadership to ensure the company locates in Ohio versus other states competing for the business.

“Aligned Data Centers will be an asset to businesses in Northeast Ohio and beyond by providing state-of-the-art infrastructure, cost savings, speed to market, and reliability to their customers,” said Team NEO Chief Executive Bill Koehler. “Along with our local partners, ODOD and JobsOhio, we welcome Aligned Data Centers to Ohio.”
