$150,000 Grant to Support Innovation Clusters

CLEVELAND, Ohio, December 12, 2017 – Burton D. Morgan Foundation has awarded a $150,000 grant to Team Northeast Ohio (Team NEO) to bolster its efforts in accelerating the pace of innovation in, and attracting new businesses to, the region’s additive manufacturing, energy storage, and smart devices and systems clusters.

A champion of innovation and entrepreneurship, the Burton D. Morgan Foundation granted Team NEO this funding for the creation of technology roadmaps intended to provide strategic guidance for economic development efforts related to accelerating innovation and commercial activity, and for outreach focused on engaging new entrepreneurs, companies and institutions — incubators, research institutes, accelerators, colleges and universities, National Manufacturing Innovation Institutes (NMIIs), etc.

“We are grateful to Burton D. Morgan Foundation for their generous support, which affords us the opportunity to focus even more resources on emerging technologies that can set our driver industries and region apart,” said Tim Fahey, vice president of industry and innovation at Team NEO. “Building upon the momentum of these innovative clusters in Northeast Ohio will help reinvigorate our region and fuel job creation.”

By intensifying engagement with the entrepreneurial community and research institutes — key sources of innovation within the additive manufacturing, energy storage, and smart devices and systems sectors — Team NEO aims to help established Northeast Ohio businesses adapt rapidly to changes in the business landscape, create a welcoming environment for entrepreneurs and support the region’s global competitiveness.
