Exsurco Medical and Bettcher Industries Expand in Erie County
52 new jobs to be added to county over the next several years
CLEVELAND, Ohio, August 9, 2017 – Exsurco Medical, a subsidiary of Bettcher Industries, will be expanding in Erie county. The company, having recently registered with the FDA as a medical device manufacturer, launched the Amalgatome® SD, a new wound debridement and skin grafting medical device designed for use in burn and trauma centers. The launch of this new product and other innovative devices, as well as expanded operations of the parent company, will add fifty-two new positions in Erie county over the next several years
“Our mssion at Exsurco is to develop and commercialize new technologies that advance the healing power of skin and help improve patient outcomes,” said Exsurco General Manager Sara Ann MacKinlay. “The local support for our company and strategic growth plans has been vital to our success.”
The support of the Erie County Economic Development Corporation, JobsOhio and Team NEO helped make this deal possible, including a JobsOhio training grant to train new hires.
“Exsurco continues to improve medical devices essential for saving and extending lives,” said JobsoOhio Biohealth Director Severina Kraner. “This investment will bring 52 more jobs to Birmingham, where important work is being done to provide this life-saving technology to medical facilities throughout the country.”

In recognition of the innovative company, Exsurco Medical was awarded the 2017 “Entrepreneur of the Year” award last night at Erie County Economic Development Corporation’s annual meeting.
