Three women-owned businesses have committed to grow through the JobsOhio Inclusion Grant (JOIG) program, supporting projects in eligible Ohio communities or businesses owned by underrepresented populations, including veteran-, minority-, and women-owned businesses.
The JOIG program helps promote economic vibrancy in the Northeast Ohio Region, enabling businesses to grow and impact the communities in which they operate.
“As we recognize Women’s Entrepreneurship Day on November 19, Team NEO, along with our partners at JobsOhio, celebrate the growth of three local women-owned companies,” said Team NEO CEO Bill Koehler.
The three Northeast Ohio companies growing through JOIG support are:
R.L. Cole Entreprise, Inc.
Cleveland-based R.L. Cole Enterprise, Inc., a minority- and woman-owned company, excels in ground transportation logistics. R.L. Cole Enterprise seeks to consolidate operations for efficiencies. The company was awarded a $50,000 JOIG to support this project, which will bring three new positions and retain eight positions.
General Fabrications Corporation
The Sandusky-based company designs, fabricates, and installs custom powder coating and liquid paint finishing systems on a national and international basis. The woman-owned company needs to update its equipment to accommodate the growing market. A $50,000 JOIG was awarded to support the project, creating four new jobs and retaining 10 positions.
The Sew Shack
The woman-owned business is an industrial sewing company specializing in custom indoor and outdoor cushions, pillows, and more. To capitalize on recent e-commerce and business-to-business opportunities, The Sew Shack is acquiring and renovating a larger facility in downtown Navarre with plans to add five new employees to meet rising product demand. A $50,000 JOIG will allow the company to make transformational investments in the building to better meet their use of the space.
While inclusion projects are not large in employment hires, they are important as Team NEO and its partners build a vibrant economy that is talented, resilient, and innovative, offering equitable opportunities for all. By advancing these elements, the Northeast Ohio Region will be more competitive and increase individual prosperity for everyone in the region.
