OMEC Smart Card, LLC to bring 200 jobs to the area
OMEC Smart Card, LLC, a leading manufacturer of products that serve municipal, governmental, industrial and enterprise customers worldwide, announced today that they are considering the purchase of a building in Northeast Ohio to operate its first North American facility. The company anticipates hiring 200 employees at the new operations.
The growth is to accommodate and serve OMEC’s North American customers. The company, headquartered in Shanghai, China, cited a business-friendly environment, available talent and access to market as reasons for selecting the Strongsville location.
“We are looking forward to forming tighter bonds with our existing customers and expanding our North American customer base through innovative products, better service and faster turnaround,” said Eric Li, general manager for OMEC. “Thanks to the great support from the economic development team and local government, we are confident that we can grow successfully and bring value to the community.”
An economic development team including the city of Strongsville, Cuyahoga County, Ohio Development Services Agency, JobsOhio and Team NEO worked with OMEC leadership to bring this new operation to Northeast Ohio.
The project is subject to state review and approval of incentives.
“The city of Strongsville welcomes OMEC Smart Card to our community,” said Mayor Thomas Perciak, city of Strongsville. “OMEC Smart Card’s investment within our community, and the new job creation associated with the project, will benefit not only the city of Strongsville, but Northeast Ohio as a whole.”
“We and our partners at JobsOhio are delighted that OMEC plans to bring its first North American operations to Northeast Ohio,” added Team NEO CEO Bill Koehler. “With access to a growing base of technology companies to serve and our region’s manufacturing expertise, we look forward to supporting their success here.”
