JobsOhio Grants Support Small Businesses

As we recognize family-owned small businesses on National Mom & Pop Business Owners Day, a celebration highlighting how critical small businesses are to economic success, Team NEO announces two projects awarded JobsOhio Inclusion Grants (JOIG).

The companies receiving the grants include:

McDonald Brothers Food Service LLC dba Dough Go’s

The woman-owned manufacturer of healthy breakfast bars, cookie, and pizza dough, was established in Canton in 2008 and provided its product to local restaurants. Over the past decade, the company changed its business model, focusing on school districts and today serves many of Northeast Ohio’s K-12 schools with healthy “smart-snack” dough, made with local and clean-label ingredients, for their menus. In the past two years they have grown exponentially, from servicing 75 schools to 500. A $50,000 JOIG was awarded to the company for machinery that with support its continued growth. The grant will also support the addition of two new hires and retention of two jobs.

Philomena Bakery LLC

This leading gluten-free and vegan baking company in the greater Cleveland area focuses on supplying wholesale clients, including local coffee, tea, and quick service food shops, with custom-baked goods. The woman-owned company was looking to expand its footprint to accommodate demand for their operations. A $50,000 JOIG was awarded to the company to support increased production, including the addition of three new hires and the retention of two jobs.
“Investing in small businesses and the jobs they create contribute to Team NEO and its partners’ efforts to build a vibrant economy that is talented, resilient, and innovative, offering equitable opportunities for all,” noted Team NEO Chief Executive Officer Bill Koehler. “Along with JobsOhio we look forward to continued support of small businesses throughout the Northeast Ohio Region.”
