Company expansion adds 167 jobs, further supports thriving biomedical sector
LabConnect, a leading global provider of central laboratory services and functional service provider solutions for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and contract research organizations, has announced plans to open operations in the Northeast Ohio Region. The new operation will add 167 new jobs over the next few years. The Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) approved the project for tax credit assistance during its Ohio Tax Credit Authority meeting today.
At their new location in Cleveland, LabConnect plans to expand their operations supporting clinical trials around the world.
“With our mission to create healthier communities by accelerating the development of medicines, we are excited about our expansion in Ohio to advance clinical trials that support getting patients the medicines they need,” said LabConnect Chief Executive Officer Dawn Sherman.
“We celebrate the expansion of LabConnect and the continued growth of Cleveland’s thriving biomedical sector,” said Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb. “Clinicians, researchers and patients involved in clinical trials will all benefit from this investment and the close proximity of LabConnect to our hospital systems and academic research institutions. This is a win for our workforce and for the advancement of discoveries that save lives.”
“LabConnect’s decision to choose Cleveland for its new operations demonstrates how the region’s thriving healthcare sector serves as a magnet to attract cutting-edge, global companies in this space,” said JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef. “This investment from LabConnect further strengthens Ohio’s global leadership in advancing efficiencies for world-class pharmaceutical companies, research institutions and more while bringing 167 new jobs to Northeast Ohio.”
“The healthcare and biomedical industry is the second-largest sector of The Northeast Ohio Region’s economy, making us well-equipped to support LabConnect’s expansion,” added Team NEO Chief Executive Officer Bill Koehler. “With 700 biomedical businesses and 270,000 biomedical and healthcare workers, we are confident they will thrive here.”
LabConnect improves lives by partnering with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, contract research organizations (CROs), and foundations/non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to accelerate the development of new medicines around the world.
