Team NEO Names Chief Executive Officer
Team NEO
Chairman James R. Clay announced today the appointment of William
“Bill” R. Koehler as chief executive officer of the
organization, a private-sector economic development organization
that markets Northeast Ohio to the world and collaborates with its
partners and others to attract new businesses, help those that are
here grow, and accelerate the pace and impact of innovation
throughout the region. Koehler begins in this role on June 15.
“Bill’s vast leadership experience and business acumen
make him perfectly suited to take on this critical leadership role
at Team NEO,” said Clay. “His history of collaboration
and track record of tackling business opportunities to achieve
results will benefit all of Northeast Ohio.”
Speaking on behalf of the CEO Search Committee, Team NEO board

is highly qualified to lead this organization into the future. The

Koehler, a senior executive with over two decades of experience
in corporate banking, has served in various leadership positions at
financial institutions in Northeast Ohio. Most recently, he led
KeyBank’s Community Bank as president. He has also held
positions with J.P. Morgan & Co. and Oxford Venture
Corporation.
Koehler has a Master of Business Administration in accounting and
finance from Columbia University’s Business School and a
Bachelor of Arts in economics from Harvard University. He currently
serves as board chairman of College Now Greater Cleveland. He is
also a board member of Friends of Breakthrough Charter Schools,
Urban Community School and St. Ignatius High School. He’s a
2011 graduate of Leadership Cleveland.
Koehler succeeds Tom Waltermire, who retired as CEO of Team NEO on
December 31, 2014.
