Oswald Companies Chooses Prime Location in Downtown Cleveland

Headquarters move will accommodate growth

Oswald Companies, one of the nation’s largest independent, employee-owned insurance brokerage and risk management firms, has announced plans to grow their headquarters in Cleveland. The company will relocate their downtown office to the former E&Y tower in the Flats East Bank. The Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) approved the project for tax credit assistance during its Ohio Tax Credit Authority meeting today. This opportunity will create 88 new positions in the state and retain 320 current jobs based at Oswald’s headquarters.

The relocation of the leading risk management company will provide a cutting-edge, progressive environment to support the ever-expanding operation.

“For 131 years, Oswald has called the city center its home,” said Oswald Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Robert Klonk. “We are grateful to the many entities that helped us find a new home downtown so we can continue our long-standing commitment to the region’s development and progress.”

A local team consisting of members of the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Downtown Cleveland, Inc., ODOD, JobsOhio, and Team NEO provided the company with information to keep Oswald Companies in the Northeast Ohio Region versus relocating to another region.

“Along with our local partners, ODOD and JobsOhio, we are pleased that Oswald Companies has decided to keep their headquarters in Northeast Ohio,” stated Team NEO Chief Executive Officer Bill Koehler. ”With our robust, talented workforce of 60,000 financial service professionals, we are sure they will continue to succeed in their new location.”

Community Leaders commented on the project:

“Oswald is a classic Cleveland success story—a company that has been growing and evolving here for more than 131 years. We are delighted they are not only staying right here in Downtown Cleveland but also adding more than 80 new job opportunities to our economy. I appreciate the hard work and partnership of everyone involved in this project.”

  • Mayor Justin M. Bibb, City of Cleveland
