SFS Group Expands in Medina

International tier 1 manufacturing supplier plans to add 45 new jobs

SFS Group, a worldwide leading supplier of application-critical precision components and assemblies, mechanical fastening systems, quality tools and logistics solutions has announced plans to expand their operation in Medina County. The Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) approved the project for tax credit assistance during an Ohio Tax Credit Authority meeting on Monday.

The company has a strong competitive position in the development and production of solutions for electric brake systems for passenger vehicles and will make an investment in a new, innovative production line.  The project will enhance and add to the capacity of the plant, located on the Route 18 corridor. It will also allow the company to supply customers globally. SFS plans to create 45 new positions while retaining 145 full-time jobs currently on-site.

“Based on SFS Group’s commitment to a local for local manufacturing strategy we continue to invest heavily in our North American operations in an effort to bring value to our North American customer base.” said Simon Schmid, General Manager for the Automotive division of SFS in the USA.  “It brings an immense level of satisfaction to see the complex components we offer to the automotive sector being built by the skilled labor force that we are developing in this region.” SFS is also strongly committed to the dual education system aiming apprentices and students to gain practical experience and launch their professional career.

“SFS has grown significantly since they chose Medina County to build a manufacturing facility here over two decades ago.” said Bethany Dentler, CEcD, Executive Director, Medina County Economic Development Corporation. “It is gratifying that this global leader continues to invest and create jobs in our community,”

“Manufacturing and the auto industry have a great legacy in the Northeast Ohio Region,” added Team NEO Chief Executive Officer Bill Koehler. “We are confident SFS will continue to grow and thrive as part of the region’s complete, end-to-end automotive supply chain. Along with our local partners, ODOD, and JobsOhio, we congratulate SFS on its expansion.”
