Team NEO and Partners Set New Record

In partnership with local economic development organizations and
the state of Ohio, Team NEO recruited 15 new companies to Northeast
Ohio in 2012. These new companies represent more than 1,000 direct
new jobs and more than $46 million in new direct annual payroll.
Many additional jobs will be created as these companies buy goods
and services from other local businesses.

“Northeast Ohio’s growing economy and resurgence in
steel, energy and manufacturing helped to fuel interest in the
region in 2012,” said Team NEO CEO Tom Waltermire.
“That, coupled with our central location, proven
manufacturing and services expertise, research base in areas such
as biomedical and polymers, and skilled, educated workforce makes a
strong case for new business investment. In 2012, we attracted
companies from a range of industries such as healthcare, IT, human
resources and advanced manufacturing.”

“The 15 companies attracted in 2012, which is the
highest in our history, created jobs with an average payroll of
more than $45,000,” said Jay Foran, senior vice president of
business attraction for Team NEO.  “These companies
chose locations across the region, including Cuyahoga, Geauga,
Lake, Mahoning, Portage and Summit counties. However, residents
from nearly all 18 counties in our region will benefit as these new
companies and their employees buy goods and services, creating
additional employment opportunities.”

From 2007 to 2012, Team NEO and its partners have brought 67 new
firms to Northeast Ohio, accounting for more than 5,900 direct new
jobs and $243 million in direct annual payroll.  The total
regional benefit is estimated to be more than 13,000 jobs and more
than $575 million in regional annual payroll.
