The regional economic development system achieved record jobs and payroll outcomes in the traded sectors
CLEVELAND, March 1, 2018 – Team Northeast Ohio (Team NEO), the region’s JobsOhio network partner, announced today the region’s performance for 2017, including record outcomes in terms of committed jobs and payroll. The region also achieved its targets for projects won and capital invested in Northeast Ohio.
Team NEO works with economic development partners across the 18 counties of Northeast Ohio to attract companies and help those that are here grow, focusing on the traded sector (companies that sell goods and services outside of Northeast Ohio). Each year, Team NEO works with JobsOhio to set goals for the region’s economy across four categories: projects won, jobs created/committed, payroll added/committed and capital investment. Along with its partners, Team NEO achieved or exceeded all of its goals, as noted below.
“I am proud that we achieved our 2017 goals before taking into account Amazon’s 3,000-job commitment,” said Team NEO’s CEO Bill Koehler. “I congratulate our partners, JobsOhio, our Team NEO staff and others who engage actively in the economic development system for helping drive these outcomes. Most important, we all thank the companies that have invested in Northeast Ohio.”
The following charts provide a six-year view of Northeast Ohio’s performance.
