United Protective Technologies, LLC Announces Plans for Facility in Trumbull County

Will bring 21 new positions to area

United Protective Technologies, LLC, (UPT) a leading high-performance protective coatings and nano-composites company, has announced plans to open a new facility at 704 Warren Ave in Niles to house research and development as well as commercial production functions to service regional clients. A $150,000 JobsOhio Revitalization Grant will support the project that will bring 21 new positions to the Northeast Ohio Region.

UPT has developed cutting edge technology in the field of coatings and surface treatments which offer superior protection to legacy coatings, without harmful environmental byproducts. UPT services an array of industries including aerospace, defense, medical, food & beverage, molding, and others.

“This new facility in Niles will be instrumental in expanding our R&D and production capabilities for our growing customer base in the region. Access to talent, an advanced manufacturing base, and support from great organizations like JobsOhio, Team NEO, the City of Niles, the Youngstown Business Incubator, and the Advanced Manufacturing and Applied Research Innovation Institute, made locating our newest facility in Niles an easy decision. We look forward to great partnerships like these and more in the region for many years to come,” said Marty Efird, CEO, United Protective Technologies, LLC.

United Protective Technologies did a nationwide search for the new facility, choosing the Northeast Ohio Region over other regions because of the region’s advanced manufacturing prowess, market access, incentive support and the economic development partnerships that were fostered.

The City of Niles, Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, Youngstown Business Incubator, JobsOhio, and Team NEO worked with United Protective Technologies, LLC, providing resources to ensure the company landed in the State of Ohio.

“On behalf of myself and the City, I would like to welcome United Protective Technologies, LLC to the Niles community. We strive to bring new industry and jobs into the City and it is wonderful to have such an advanced, diverse company call Niles home,” said Mayor Steven Mientkiewicz, City of Niles. “The transition into Niles was somewhat extensive, but seamless. I would like to congratulate UPT and wish the company many prosperous years ahead in the City of Niles.”

“The Youngstown Business Incubator is excited to welcome United Protective Technologies, LLC to the Mahoning Valley,” said Barb Ewing, Chief Executive Officer for YBI. “Their technology capabilities and spirit of innovation will assist the region in continuing our transition from traditional to advanced manufacturing.”

“United Technologies, LLC’s expansion within the Northeast Ohio Region demonstrates that our region provides an attractive environment for new and innovative technologies,” added Team NEO Chief Executive Officer Bill Koehler. “Along with local partners, Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, Youngstown Business Incubator, and JobsOhio, we look forward to working with them in the future to ensure their success here.”
