Advanced power systems manufacturer invests $14 million, adds 535 jobs in Streetsboro with support from Team NEO and regional partners
As global demand for data centers and AI infrastructure accelerates, LayerZero Power Systems LLC is expanding its Northeast Ohio footprint to meet unprecedented growth.
With support from Team NEO, JobsOhio, and regional partners, LayerZero is investing $14 million to construct a new 120,000-square-foot facility in Streetsboro, Ohio, a project expected to create 535 new, good-paying, manufacturing and production jobs, supporting a significant increase in production capacity to meet growing orders.
The Company
Founded in 2001 in Aurora, Ohio, LayerZero Power Systems has grown from a startup launched in a garage into a globally recognized leader in advanced power distribution solutions. The company designs and manufactures exceptionally reliable switchgear, power panels, and monitoring systems that ensure uninterrupted power in mission-critical environments. Serving data centers, financial processing facilities, and rapidly expanding AI-driven infrastructure, LayerZero is known for engineering excellence, innovation, and customer focus. All products are designed and built in Northeast Ohio, where the company continues to scale to meet rising global demand for resilient, high-performance power systems.
Why Northeast Ohio
LayerZero previously operated two facilities in Aurora and recently acquired an additional building in Streetsboro, which quickly filled to capacity.
As LayerZero evaluated its next phase of growth, leadership considered multiple options: expanding at its current Aurora location, growing elsewhere within Ohio, or expanding out of state.
The company’s primary concern was workforce availability.
With strong growth already underway, executives questioned whether Northeast Ohio’s labor market could support a large-scale expansion of production roles.
Team NEO partnered with LayerZero to address those concerns through detailed labor shed analysis and workforce research. By providing data-driven insights into regional manufacturing talent availability, along with outlining recruitment and talent acquisition strategies, Team NEO demonstrated that Northeast Ohio could support the company’s long-term growth needs.
Beyond workforce strength, Northeast Ohio offered additional advantages to LayerZero, including deep manufacturing expertise, highly competitive operating costs, established supply chain networks, and a location that is within a one-day drive of 60% of the U.S. population. Northeast Ohio’s strength in advanced manufacturing continues to attract and grow companies like LayerZero, who are supporting the expanding data center and AI supply chain.

Team Neo’s Role
Team NEO has engaged with LayerZero in growth discussions since 2022. When this major expansion opportunity emerged in late 2024, Team NEO worked closely with company leadership and investors to ensure the region remained its top choice.
In collaboration with JobsOhio and regional partners, Team NEO helped assemble a competitive project package that included:
- A job creation tax credit
- Infrastructure support, including road improvements to accommodate increased traffic flow near the new facility
- Talent acquisition services, offered to support recruitment and workforce training efforts
Regional partners included the City of Streetsboro, Portage Development Board, and the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) Office of Jobs & Commerce. These partners collaborated with Team NEO to help LayerZero address workforce scalability, providing data and recruitment strategies to support hiring at scale. Partners also supported infrastructure readiness, coordinating road improvements, including traffic flow enhancements to support increased operational activity.
Scaling to Meet Demand
LayerZero’s growth reflects a broader trend: the rapid buildout of AI-enabled data centers across the country. As digital infrastructure expands, the need for reliable, mission-critical power distribution systems continues to rise.
This project positions Northeast Ohio more deeply within the global data center supply chain and reinforces the region’s reputation as a hub for power systems and industrial expertise
By supporting companies like LayerZero, Team NEO helps Northeast Ohio continue to build momentum in advanced manufacturing while supporting career opportunities in a fast-growing, technology-driven sector.
