Oil & Gas

Proximity, supply chain, and customer access fuel growth-oriented oil-and-gas-related businesses.

The Northeast Ohio Region’s oil & gas industry is more resourceful than most.

The oil and gas industry grew 525% in Northeast Ohio between 2007 and 2019. The Northeast Ohio region is ideally situated near large oil and gas deposits in the Marcellus and Utica Point Pleasant Shale formations. The proximity to lucrative natural gas liquids (NGLs) in these formations, coupled with the strength of the region’s supply chain and outstanding access to customers, makes Northeast Ohio an ideal location for growth-oriented oil-and-gas-related businesses.

Ohio produces more than 4.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. From 2011 – 2016, approximately $51 billion was invested in building out Ohio’s shale value chain. As a result, both job growth and investments continue to gain momentum as domestic and global demand for natural gas, NGLs, and other end products continue to rise. Ohio’s shale and petrochemical production is driving investment and helping other industries grow.

Going the way of the dinosaur? Quite the opposite.

Success story: R.W. Beckett Corporation

R. W. Beckett Corporation, North America’s leading manufacturer of oil combustion products used in home heating, hot water pressure cleaning equipment, as well as numerous other custom commercial, and industrial applications, purchased the assets and product rights of Westwood Products, a New Jersey Company. Beckett will move these assets to North Ridgeville, Ohio, where the acquired products will be produced. The move will require a substantial overhaul of company operations in North Ridgeville and substantial employee training to teach new and existing employees the skills required to build the newly purchased products. The company was awarded a $125,000 JobsOhio training grant to support the project. R.W. Beckett will add 30 new jobs to its current North Ridgeville staff.

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to broaden our portfolio of products and bring new solutions and technologies to our customers,” says Kevin Beckett, President and CEO of the R.W. Beckett Corporation. “We are equally gratified that the partnership with JobsOhio and Team NEO has accelerated our ability to successfully create jobs and grow our investment in Northeast Ohio.“
